Give your pup the VIP treatment with professional dog grooming services from Wags Pet Hotel. Our experienced groomer will take care of your dog’s specific needs, ensuring a stress-free experience that leaves them looking and feeling their best!

Health and safety are our highest priority.

The groomer retains the right to terminate the groom at any point if the dog is overly stressed or aggressive.

If your female dog is in season, please contact the office to reschedule or discuss requirements.

De-matting a pets coat

Our policy will always reflect humanity over vanity. The de-matting process can be painful and uncomfortable for your dog.

We will consult with you about what your grooming wants vs requirements are upon your arrival and find a way to provide you with the best groom possible based on coat condition.

Ageing and highly Stressed pets

For some dogs visiting the groomer can be difficult. We promise to do our best to give a little extra TLC to nervous and aging dogs.

In most cases our groomer can spend extra time with your pet as needed, and TLC doesn’t cost extra.

Frequently Asked Questions

If in doubt always ask – we are here for you

Do I need to bring anything with my dog when they get groomed?

Before your pet comes to the Wags Pet Hotel, we strongly recommend they have a chance to relieve themselves; this will alleviate their stress.

As each dog is individual, we will have a discussion before your appointment regarding any special requirements.

My dog has been aggressive at other groomers before; can you still groom him?

At our grooming salon, we understand that some dogs have had unfortunate experiences in the past and don’t always enjoy being pampered. That’s why we recommend breaking up the treatments over multiple visits when it comes to these particular pets! We take a step-by-step approach – bathing for one session and then gradually introducing ear cleaning or nail trimming at different times until your furry friend feels more comfortable with each process. With this training method, you can be sure your pup is calm throughout its entire spa experience!

We are happy to discuss a treatment plan if your pet requires this service.

We understand that not all pups gravitate to grooming, and our team is experienced working with timid fur babies. If you have a pup who appears uncomfortable during their appointment, we’ll sit down and come up with the best plan of action for them—special care tailored just for your pet!

Can you use special shampoo as my dog is hypoallergic?

We sure can! We have a special hypoallergic shampoo that is non scented

Will you trim my dog's nails when they get a groom?

Nails is always included in their groom price unless not asked to do so

My dog has fleas; what should I do?

We are more than happy to give them a flea treatment bath and aftercare which is at a small additional charge

What forms of payment do you accept?

We accept credit cards, debit cards or cash

How long will a groom take?

Small dogs will approximately take 1 hour to 1.5 hours

And for bigger more technical grooms take approx an hour and a half up to a few hours but we will always give you a call once done so you don’t need to wait around.

My dog doesn't need a full groom but a bath and a trim; can I bring him in?

Not all dog breeds dogs need a complete haircut; however, for maintenance and good health, all dogs need – ear cleaning, nail clipping, bath, towel, or blow dry and cleaning up around the bum, eyes and face. Your dog knows you love them, why not give them a spa day to show them too.

How old should my puppy be he gets his first groom?

Getting your puppy familiar with grooming (bathing and trimming) as early as possible after the first set of puppy shots, usually 12-16 weeks, is good – depending on the breed and coat. This will help him learn early on that grooming is a pleasant experience and something to be enjoyed.

I have an older dog; should I bother getting them groomed?

Your senior pup deserves a special kind of care and love! At Wags Pet Hotel, we provide the best advice so your furry friend can enjoy their golden years in good health. Our team is specially trained in delivering grooming for deaf, blind, arthritic or diabetes-affected dogs – no pooch ever needs to be left behind. Worried about any risks? If you have any concerns check it out with your vet before visiting us or have a chat to ys – let’s give those aged canine companions all the extra TLC they deserve!

How often should I get my dog groomed?

That is breed dependent. To maintain a proper/manageable coat for non-shedding breeds such as Poodles, Bichons, Shih Tzus, Lhasa Apsos, and some terriers, you should have your dog groomed every 4-8 weeks.

Breeds with short shedding coats can usually wait 6-10 weeks between grooming appointments as long as they are brushed regularly at home. But to have a chat to us if you are unsure.

How often do nails need trimming?

It depends on the breed, health, age, activity level and environment; ask us if you have any questions; generally, a dog’s nails need trimming every 4-6 weeks

What if I need my pet to stay longer than the time to groom them?

Your dog is more than welcome to join on in the doggy day-care fun at an extra cost for $25 casual rate for a fun filled day of play, but don’t worry your dog will still return back to you with their beautiful fresh smelling groom

Do dogs feel better after grooming?

You bet they do! Just like humans, a dog will feel better after Spa session. We all want to look our best don’t we?

Can you groom my dog to the breed standard?

Yes we sure can, Nikki has 30 years of grooming experience with many different breeds. You are more than welcome to bring in a picture or book reference if you have a particular style you would like.

Do you groom cats?

Currently grooming cats is not available at this stage

My dog is shaking when I bring him in. Does that mean he is scared or doesn't like the groomer?

Not necessarily; he may just be anxious from the car ride, excited, or unsure if he is going to the vet to get a shot. Much like kids in preschool, Many pooches settle in and get comfortable once their parents leave. Getting used to new sights and smells is natural for them, so we’ll always let your pup sniff around at their pace before getting started – In fact, they often pull us into the grooming area!

Dogs are very intuitive and pick up any anxiety you may be feeling, so you must be calm and reassuring.

What are anal glands?

These are scent sacs found right under your dog’s tail. Some dogs empty them; naturally, some do not. If you are having continual issues with your dog’s anal gland suppression, chat with our groomer for advice or consult your veterinarian on your yearly checkup.

My dog's hair is matted. Do I need to cut the hair short?

We hate seeing our furry friends in pain; your pup’s coat is no exception. Unfortunately, if it has become severely matted, the best approach may be clipping off their hair as a preventative measure for potential skin or health issues that can occur with ‘matts’ – but don’t worry! Our groomer will discuss all options when it comes to what works best not only aesthetically but also in keeping comfort levels high while maintaining healthy fur.

What if I am not happy with the groom my dog receives?

We always want you and your pet to be happy! That’s why we strive for complete satisfaction with every appointment. But if anything needs to be corrected, please let us know within 2 business days so we can make things perfect – because making our customers woof is the biggest pride of all!
